Origami Instructor? [Jul. 3rd, 2008|07:06 pm]

denver

[dragon_smoke]
Help needed for a teen library program about origami. Are you an enthusiastic expert when it comes to origami? Do you love to teach others about this fun activity? Do you enjoy donating your time to a worthy cause? We need your help! Due to a change of plans, my volunteer for this program is unable to run it. The event is scheduled to be held on July 9th at 4pm. It can run from an hour to two hours and we are expecting 10-20 teens to show up based on our pre-registrations so far. Help us give the teens a summer of fun at our library- it will be most appreciated!

Please email me at dracolibris@gmail.com if interested or with any questions.

Are there any special events going on in Wash Park tomorrow for Independence Day? I've seen some for other areas, but not this spot specifically.

Fabric Stores in Denver Metro Area? [Jul. 3rd, 2008|03:53 pm]

denver

[aprilramone]
I'm looking for a fabric store (not JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby) other than Denver Fabrics. Anyone know of any that are able to do special orders? We found a fabric that we liked at Denver Fabrics, but it was almost gone and when we asked about special ordering it they told us they don't do that!?
Thanks:)

I don't remember where I read this but I thought I'd share [Jul. 3rd, 2008|04:57 pm]

I'm pretty sure it was in church magazine for young couples.

For married couples, "Good sex is a gift from God. Great sex is a gift you give to each other."

Do you agree or disagree? What are your feelings on the subject?

Heritage Square fireworks? [Jul. 3rd, 2008|01:24 pm]

denver

[laurenoid]
Does anyone know if Heritage Square in Golden still does their annual fireworks display on the 4th? Their crappy website only has a flyer about some jazz show in the evening, but nothing about fireworks. The only show I can find for Golden is in Lion's Park, but I was hoping to take the chairlift up and ride the Alpine slide and all that good stuff. Any idea?

If not...what are the rest of you doing for the 4th? Favorite place to go see fireworks in the area?

Thanks!

Warming up for the DNC, maybe? [Jul. 2nd, 2008|12:48 pm]

denver

[cluebyfour]
Hey!  Some lady sang the so-called black national anthem (instead of the white, er, I mean the U. S. national anthem) at a public event yesterday, and half the city lost its collective shit.

Oh, and John Hickenlooper gave a speech, or something.  But who cares about that?  We have black people singing the wrong songs!  And you know it will only get worse if that black guy gets elected!

We should do something about this!  Besides getting blindingly drunk during the DNC, I mean.

Furniture for sale or donation [Jul. 2nd, 2008|10:47 am]

denver

[lisajournal]
Hi all! I just moved to Denver from Florida, and I am looking to sell or donate my 5 piece bedroom set. It includes 2 nightstands, a tall dresser, a 6 drawer long dresser, and a headboard. I posted on Craigslist and didn't have much luck. I am looking to sell (for $100) or donate by this weekend. If you know someone who might be interested, or if you know of a place that will come and pick up the furniture for donation (I already called Arc and they arent picking up until July 18th!) please let me know! Thanks! I do have pictures available! :)

Hi,
I'm from New Haven, CT but in Aspen/Snowmass for the summer. I'm flying from Denver to Indiana for a cousin's wedding in early August, and was planning on getting to Denver on Greyhound from Glenwood Springs. The few times I've used Greyhound at home, I don't buy it online because for some reason they give me the wrong prices and it ends up being cheaper just buying it at the station. Does anyone know how expensive it would be to purchase tickets at the Glenwood station to go to Denver? I have a student advantage card which gives me 15% off. And I know what the greyhound website tells you, I just want to know if any of you know from experience.
Thanks a lot!

Advice [Jul. 1st, 2008|05:38 pm]

homos4god

[b_gallagher]

I'm back - and thankfully with a better post this time. :D

This time around I'm looking for some help/advice. I just realized I'm gay a couple of months ago so I'm still kind of figuring everything out. One of the things I keep getting stuck on is the fact that people say it's a sin. I've been told that my entire life. It was practically a comandment. "Don't cheat, Don't murder, Don't be gay"

So, what I need advice on is - How did everybody realize that there's nothing wrong with being gay? I mean, I REALLY need some advice on this. It's always on my mind; I'm always beating myself up over it, wondering if I'm just too stupid to see that it is a sin.

I'm not looking for other people's oppinions to become my own. I'm not going to read what everybody says and let that be what I make my decision on. I don't even think you can decide, I think it's just something that happens. Like realizing you're gay. You either know it's not a sin or you know it's not.

4th of July Post [Jun. 30th, 2008|10:46 pm]

Okay, here it is... I checked the past few weeks and saw no entries on this.

4th Of July Questions
New to Denver and want to see some fireworks. I'm finding a lot online about events and festivals and such surrounding the 4th, but when/where exactly in Denver do these fireworks shoot off? I mean, Denver covers a pretty sizeable area.

How is parking (in comparison to other Denver weekend events of craziness)?

Anything anyone would recommend?

Thanks, and happy 4th!
